ABOUT THE SERVICE:
Extern’s Disability Respite Service ‘Time Out Programme’ aims to
meaningfully integrate and include service users in their communities.
The service supports service users whose placement at home is at risk
of breakdown and/or require additional supports to develop and nurture
a better quality of life.
The programme also offers planned and responsive respite provision to
service users and their families
ABOUT THE ROLE:
Project Workers will apply a social care model to introduce a range of
programmes to service users and their families. These programmes will
provide opportunities for services users to develop skills in
independent living, effective communication, and behaviour management.
The programmes are creative and dynamic, utilising local, regional,
and national resources to facilitate intervention strategies and the
activities include education/training, employment, social, recreation,
and sport and leisure activities.
Project Workers will be required to deliver all aspects of the
programme in a flexible manner as part of a team and will work in
close partnership with the service user’s family, statutory agencies
and community resources.
